Holidays are times of celebration, happiness and togetherness. However, they do bring some challenges to both our physical and emotional well-being. We would like to share simple, yet effective tips for staying happy and healthy during the holiday season.
Eat healthy – Celebrations are commonly crated with highly processed, fatty and sugary food. Therefore, even if you want to eat healthy during holidays, it’s almost impossible. Should you simply settle for unhealthy meals during celebrations or is there something you can do about it? My tip is to make healthy sharing platter and bring it with you to the next celebration! Put some fresh veggies and fruits, nutrient rich nuts such as cashews or almonds, high quality dark chocolate, vegan sushi, hummus and grainy crackers on a sharing platter and enjoy the party!
Workout – If you’re physically active during any other time of the year (and you should be), why wouldn’t you exercise during the holidays? You don’t need to go to gym; swimming and snorkeling in summer or skiing and ice skating in winter can be great exercise too. Choose something you can do with your loved ones and spend some quality time together being active.
Rest – Holidays are all about treating yourself and others around you, so make sure you make time to take care of yourself. Wake up a little bit later and enjoy a few days of rest; it’s something you probably need. Take some time to do things that you really enjoy but don’t have opportunities to do. Soothing your body, mind and soul will improve your overall well-being.
Travel safely – Many people are traveling during the holidays. To avoid unpleasant situations, plan your trips wisely. Try to eat well and drink plenty of water. It’s alright to bring a few supplements with you just to be on the safe side. Wash your hands on a regular basis, urge others to do the same and carry a hand sanitizer.
