Though marijuana has been in use for therapeutic purposes since ancient times, due to the risk of abuse, it was banned in the 1930s. However, the outstanding CBD oil benefits made the medical world and government to think over their decision again to make CBD oil legal and thankfully, research has started again and more and more encouraging CBD oil effects are being found.
The main compound in marijuana is CBD or cannabidiol which has all the therapeutic properties and is seen to treat several diseases. Researchers have stated that considering the very low toxicity and otherwise benign side effects of CBD, it’s just bad to ignore or deny the outstanding CBD oil benefits. Here are some of them.
1. Benefits in Pain and Inflammation
The most prominent health benefit of CBD oil is pain relief. Studies suggest that cannabinoids, by blocking neuronal transmission in pain pathways, can modulate pain. A 2007 meta-analysis done in Canada used a combination of THC and CBD oral spray which was found to be effective in treating neuropathic pain in multiple sclerosis patients. A 2012 research published in the Journal of Experimental Medicine showed that CBD remarkably suppressed neuropathic and chronic inflammatory pain in rodents without giving rise to analgesic tolerance.
2. Benefits in Acne
Acne is fairly common and affects over 9% of the population. It’s believed to be caused by numerous factors including bacteria, overproduction of sebum (skin oil secreted by the sebaceous glands in skin), genetics and underlying inflammation.
Recent research has shown that CBD oil may treat acne because of its anti-inflammatory properties and an ability to decrease sebum production. A test-tube study showed that CBD oil prevented sebaceous gland cells from producing excessive sebum, prevented the “pro-acne” compounds like inflammatory cytokines from becoming active and applied anti-inflammatory actions.
Another research showed similar observations and concluded that CBD is perhaps a safe and efficient way to treat acne, thanks to its exceptional anti-inflammatory properties. Although these results are promising, there are no enough studies done on humans to fully support these findings.
3. Benefits in Eczema
CBD oil can be used topically to treat many skin conditions like eczema by stimulating abnormal cell death. It can help regulate the oil production in skin as stated above, thereby reducing acne. CBD also consists of several nutrients, mainly vitamin E, that protect the skin and improve its condition.
Plus CBD oil has been researched more to treat many conditions, mainly cancer, and results are encouraging. CBD oil for dogs and other pets has been found to be useful too. So, consider using CBD oil for your health; but be sure to consult your doctor first.
