Electronic medical records (EMR)If you know that much about EMR’s (electronic medical records) then you know that they run off a server which means that all the patient information consists of is a bunch of files that make up a piece of software. If you are like many older people in the United States then you still have not gotten around to using much technology and because of this computers and servers are not something you want to submit yourself to. The entire reason I bring up this point is because electronic medical records are not alone, they can be backed up using servers and computers from different locations.

What you need to understand is that a smart healthcare facility will backup all your medical information every so many months. The reason why you need to understand this and how it works is because the idea behind it and the way it operates will change your negative opinion about electronic medical records.
When it comes to backups provided by EMR the main thing that you have to know is that the backup is only as good as the company that offers it. What I mean by this is that the more locations a company has the better off your backup will be. The reason why the more locations means more secure backups is simply because having all the backups in one locations means that if there was ever a flood or fire in the building where the servers are at then the backups would all be destroyed. Trust me when I say that using a company with backups all across the United States will greatly benefit you and it will put your mind at ease. Just remember that EMR backups are not required so before you move all your patient information to electronic medical records you should first figure out if it will be backed up or not.
